Beacon Together

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 June 2026

Beacon Together (“we”, “us”) is an iPhone and iPad app that helps cancer patients and the people who care for them keep track of symptoms, treatment, and wellbeing. We have designed it to collect as little personal information as possible. This policy explains what we do and do not do with your data.

No account, data stays on your device

You do not create an account to use Beacon Together. The health information you enter — symptoms, medications, appointments, journal entries, and wellbeing check-ins — is stored on your device. We do not have a copy of it and cannot see it.

AI features (optional)

Beacon Together includes optional AI features — for example, asking questions about what you’ve logged, summaries, or pulling details out of a lab report or scan you choose to upload. These only run when you use them.

When you use an AI feature, the information needed for that request is sent to produce your result. That may include health details you’ve logged (such as treatment, blood counts, symptoms, or a document you upload) and, when a carer is involved, the names of the people concerned. By default these requests pass through Beacon’s own proxy server, which forwards them to our AI provider, applies usage limits, and checks that the request comes from a genuine copy of the app. Beacon does not keep your health content on this server — it records only anonymous usage totals (for example, how much of the service has been used) so we can run it safely.

Your information is used only to generate your result. It is not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to identify you. If you prefer, you can supply your own AI-provider key, in which case requests go directly to that provider under your own account instead of through our proxy. An optional research feature also sends a short search query to a third-party research provider to find general patient-education sources; it does not send your identity.

Keeping the service secure

To protect the AI service from abuse, the app attaches a device-attestation check (Apple’s App Attest) to AI requests. This only confirms the request comes from a genuine, unmodified copy of Beacon Together. It is used solely for security and anti-abuse — it does not identify you personally and is never used for tracking or advertising.

Sharing with carers

If you choose to share information with a carer, that sharing happens only with the people and to the extent you select. You stay in control of what is shared and can change it.

What we never do

This website

This website is hosted on Cloudflare, which may collect basic, aggregated analytics (such as page views and approximate region) to keep the site secure and reliable. The website does not collect health information.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under UK/EU GDPR and US state privacy laws such as the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information. Because your health data lives on your device, you can delete it at any time by removing the data in the app or deleting the app. For anything else, contact us below.

Children

Beacon Together is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 13 (or under the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we update this policy we will change the “last updated” date above.
